Sadhana Retreat
Sadhana = Self Effort

3rd-5th November 2017

Vedanta Institute London is pleased to invite you and your family to the 5th Annual ‘Sadhana Retreat’ to be conducted by Bhaskarji, a senior disciple of Swami Parthasarathy and graduates of the Vedanta Academy. This year the weekend family retreat is being held at De Vere Horsley Estate, set in the heart of the Surrey countryside.

‘Sadhana’ is self-effort: to learn and imbibe the principles of Vedanta for spiritual development. The retreat provides an opportunity to understand the higher values of living through lectures, Q&A, group interaction, yoga, exercises, early morning study, community singing and vegetarian food. This would be beneficial for beginners as well as regular students to gain an insight into the philosophy and practise of Vedanta.

Bhaskarji will explain the qualities of an enlightened person from Chapter II of the Bhagavad Gita. This portion known as ‘Stithaprajna: Person of Steady Wisdom’ is acclaimed a masterpiece in scriptural literature. A separate session will be conducted for youngsters between the ages of 8 – 15 years.

The 2-day schedule from 3 – 5 November includes talks, group discussions, and early morning study, yoga, sports, community singing and vegetarian food. These activities mirror the daily schedule followed by students and visitors at the Vedanta Academy in India. The retreat would be beneficial for beginners as well as regular students to gain an insight into the philosophy and practise of Vedanta.

He who is able to withstand even here,
before liberation from the body,
the force arising from desire and anger,
he is a yogi, he is a happy man.
